Drool boy.

28 Jul

Do you see the puddle under his poor, sweet mouth.  And no sign of teeth.  Buckets and buckets of drool.  Slightly off his game.  Runny nose.  And yet, no teeth.

Here is to this passing….and to no teeth for a while.

Well almost just like a s’moa.  I am hooked.

The Backson is creating unnecessary worry.

Went to see Winnie the Pooh today with Gia and Jace.  And realized how often we have a Backson in our life.  You know, the imaginary problem that we focus on taking our attention away from being productive.  AND how obsessed we can be with one thing (huny) that prevents us from enjoying the moment.

Thank you Disney for the opportunity to focus on the good.  And thank you for the adult humor of having the hundred acre wood gang searching for tail.

Belle époque.

22 Jul

…means beautiful era in English.  And my life is in one right now.  I have two remarkable children that I adore, a great husband, a great business, amazing friends and terrific parents.  In fact, last night I ate dinner with my parents and my children while enjoying real French wine that was purchased in France….from my grandmother’s crystal.  It does not get more amazing than that.

Joie de vivre.

Bubba.

21 Jul

I am from Texas. That is no secret. But one of the things no one tells you? The irresistible urge to call your male offspring by the nick name Bubba.

Bubs.

Bubba Boy.

Bubby.

It just comes out of my mouth. Constantly. I can not believe it is happening. And it catches like wildfire. Gia is calling him Bubba. And (GASP!) RT too.

Does it stop? Or is Luke going to be one of those guys that goes by Bubba his entire life? I do try to refrain from this term of endearment when he is wearing his oh-so-adorable overalls.

But, there is a fantastic NYC restaurant named Bubby’s. So that makes it crazy chic, right?

Popa and his grand son.

My dad and Luke. It is really amazing to sit back and watch the awe and love that parents have for their grand children. How often they ask you to lighten up on your discipline tactics (when you indeed would have been grounded for life for such behavior) because they just love them so darn much. And it is amazing how seeing your parents make memories with your kids is just so very special.

Boomerang.

I nursed Gia for nearly fourteen months. I have been nursing Luke for six months. And I am an incredibly lazy nurse-er. I do it laying down for the most part. Which brings on neck and back issues.

Pinching.

Aching.

Horrible stuff.

And then my mom introduced me to the boomerang pillow. Suddenly, all of that ceased. And I am walking around with good posture. And not thinking that I am eighty.

Go get one today. No, run to get one. Right now.

Mom really does know best.

A mom and her SIX MONTH old boy.

Today, Luke is six months old.  Yesterday was his Baptism.  It seems like yesterday that he was a swaddled babe.  Swaddled no more, but always riding along on my chest.  Luke has been on eleven business trips.  He loves things that make crinkle noises and Gia is his most favorite person on the planet- well except for me.  But I am the only one that feeds him so I have that going for me.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of heading to Utah (which seriously is one of the most amazing places in the world) for evo ’11. One of the lovely founders of Alt introduced me to Justin who was nice enough to take a couple (and breathtaking if I might add) pictures of Luke and I.

Thank you Justin!

And if you are ever in Utah and need an awesome photographer, Justin comes highly recoomended! Check him out here wwww.justinhackworth.com.

Gia has a friend at school with very curly hair. Gia actually began by referring to Kaitlyn’s hair as frizzy and I quickly corrected her that no one has frizzy hair just beautiful curls. (For those of you that don’t know I had uber corkscrew curly hair from puberty. It has sense relaxed a little bit post pregnancy. So I will always defend curly girls.)

As life would have it my little darling with the sleek, smooth, straight hair that I have spent my life yearning for is now yearning for curls. We went to Ulta today to pick up a few necessities and Gia was scouring the isles for a “product that makes it all curly and stuff”. So I provided the only solution I could think of: sponge rollers.

She couldn’t stop talking about them. All through dinner. Excited to get in the bathtub and get out. Ready for rollers. Excited for pink. Dreaming of cascading curls. So we half dried her hair and separated it into sections. I think they may be a little big (1 1/4 inch size) for her fine, sweet hair but we shall see. She was just thrilled with the entire process.

She is currently sleeping in my bed. We had to take two out as soon as she got into bed because she was unable to lay down. I super hope that it is just the way she wants it in the morning.

Oh, why does the hair thing start so young?
